well considering they tell you to use a library if you have not got a pc many people could have the same ip so cant see them using that to monitor it.

i agree - I find it hard to believe its IP addresses! I just got a bit paranoid....

I meant a separate thread for 'how tesco figure out your household'. I havent made one myself as I have no idea how!

The other thread is just for prices, but it's ok to chat about it on this thread if you want, we are a friendly bunch and no subject is out of bounds (as you will see from my poo/air freshener post). :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Im not sure I should seeing as I seem to be upsetting one new user who has made all of two posts on the entire website but here goes-

When I turn off my wireless router it allocates me a new IP address when I log on - I dont think all ISP providers do but BT do - you can check what its is on www.whatsmyip.com before you switch off leave it a while - switch router back on and re-check on the website - it has always been different to me -
Someone on thread 2 noted that some people who run their own servers pay extra to have static IP addresses but for those who just have in their home for "normal" use this will likely work - HTH

Does this work with normal routers e.g. desktop PCs as well as laptops?

you can have static ips on normal internet also not just paid for, also theres a sticky dynamic which can take months to change..

as they promote to use public places should you not have internet i cant see how they can monitor ips as people would have the same..

Yes its all down to your router not your method of logging on - in my limited experience anyway - I cant see it being IP addresses that are tracked because people are using libraries and work etc - but you never know I guess!

I dont know too much about the techie side of it all I only know this works for me -

I do agree I cant see it being IP addresses though since people are at work and as you say public places etc!
