Did your mum 'give' you the car or was the money a loan?

If you can prove a need to keep the car then the OR should declare no interest in it as it's not worth much.

If your mum bought the car then she could be classed as the owner and you the registered keeper. They do not have to be the same person. Have you got any proof that your mum actually paid for the car? Do you need the car for work? if not there is always the possibility the OR could have an interest in it regardless of value.

It is the person who paid for the car that can lay claim to it that is what the OR said so if your mum bought it for you then it is hers

You are allowed £2000 for a car, so i think you should be OK providing you need it for work
