Offered internal vacancy then withdrawn

Hi all,

I was wondering if you could advise me on my current situation.

An internal vacancy was emailed round our company regarding a new role in another department. I applied for this and was interviewed\accepted by the department manager. My current manager was ok with this once informed and was in the process of arranging a date before an official letter was sent to me.

I've just had a meeting with the division manager who has decided there is no vacancy, apparently the other department was not made aware of a recruitment freeze that was decided previously.

Is there anything I can do without an official offer letter?

Thanks.

Freddie OP is still in their original job as I read it - what do you think can be done?

nothing can be done unfortunately. The job no longer exists....could be worse, if OP had started they might now be redundant.
