Maidstone house prices rise....

I was shocked to see a 2 bed terraced in Maidstone is over £200,000 now.
People have started using E bay to sell as well.

Rather a nice village in a Maidstone postcode, that.
But saying it's a "huge master bedroom" is taking the whatsit. 13'10 × 10'5 isn't a huge double at all. Rather a small one, surely?
There seem to be a fair few 3 bed houses in Maidstone at about £125k asking price, and 4 beds from £169k to £180k.
Downside, of course, is taht you have to live in Maidstone!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I used to live a mile or two up the road from Laddingford - believe me, it is certainly not 'Maidstone'! I sold my (much tinier) cottage about ten years ago for nearly that much.
My house is only up the road from there as well. Isn't it nice round there? I know it's not really Maidstone. We love Sarah O Grady0 -
i think we know that it doesn't work like that already. That's not how averages work, though. You can't just decide to list your 2 bedroom Maidstone terrace for £650k and wait for the £598k cheque to arrive...
As was mentioned above, sample sizes of 1 are meaningless. (Especially when it's just an asking price.)
if you don't believe that 92% of asking prices are achieved that's another story.0 -

This thread made me look at my own postcode.
According to the land registry, having bought in 2006, my house is now worth exactly (give or take a few quid) what it was when I bought it.
Graph wise on averages, anyway.
Remind me again, what boat it was that I could have missed, which everyone kept telling me about when I was thinking about buying? Would I have missed this one that I boarded?

Well, you've been on the "5 years of mortgage cleared" boat it seems. You're better off for buying, right? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Clearly the normal means of selling property isn't working for overpriced shoeboxes, hence Ebay

Post was more tounge in cheek than anything else.
However, probably better off, just about. Would have to consider fee's for buying and fee's for selling / moving.
For the cost each month vs renting, yes, better off. In terms of not having to worry about the landlord deciding he can't afford his mortgage payments and moving back in, much better off.
Was kinda hoping to have MEW'd twice so far though for a couple of new cars and an exotic holiday.0
