Chirpychick, can you claim constructive unfair dismissal, or whatever it is? I'm sure ACAS or CAB will be able to advise you.

There are other threads on the forum that might be useful to you. There's one called Up Your Income. Or you could decide to save money by making all your cards and Christmas/birthday presents this year.

I also had a job I hated. When they made me redundant I was beside myself - with joy. Health really is the most important thing. No employer will thank you for sacrificing your health in the name of work. Especially not the one you've got at the moment, by the sound of it!

Your OH sounds lovely, it is good that he is supportive.

ETA you can post a statement of your income/outgoings on debtfreewannabe if you are struggling and they can make suggestions about cutting down or re-jigging things.

Thanks so much, i think we have everything down to a minimum, especially as we are in the IVA!! But i may do that statement of income / outgoings just to check :)
I can claim constructive dismissal but im really really frightened of the owner of the company! So im not sure im brave enough to go down that route.
Ive got Christmas cards from 2 years ago when i stocked up in the sales lol and christmas ive planned :T im getting a nutcracker wooden soldier from ebay putting in a basket with a copy of the nutcracker dvd and music with a printed and laminated copy of the story with homemade gingerbread christmas trees and snow flakes :) thats £8 per basket and we have 7 baskets to give.

My hubby is wonderful :) im very very lucky :D

Larumbelle, thats very clever hiding text like that! I never knew it was possible. Im so sorry you are going through all that stress at work, how disgusting they do not take your condition into account when you are willing to work.

Smileyt ...sod them. I think you would be a perfect candidate to look after people as you are such a lovely person and willing to share your home. The government want us all to do our bit and you were prepared to and thats what happened.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts re OH, I chucked him in the bath earlier and made him a nice tea which he ate a bit of, just hoping for a bit of sleep tonight. Everything seems better after a sleep doesnt it? I have been quite productive while he slept and made a couple of loaves and do some little cross stitch pictures so the day wasn't wasted.

CHIRPY CHICK and LARUMBELLE-good luck-I can only add my support and send hugs.
SMILEY T-from the sound of your home,it must be homely and welcoming far more than a pristine unlived in place where you were afraid to relax! You can be proud of yourself, not shamed:A
Am cooking green lentils in slow cooker for sausage stew and soup made with stuff from freezer and whatever is lurking at the back of the fridge.
I like to do the sausage stew in the Remoska using abit of chopped pepper if I have it,a few chopped mushrooms, chopped carrot, bit of onion and equivalent of 2 large mugs cooked lentils. Have used the liquid left from the pasta I cooked earlier to cook the lentils(had put in 2 teasp Marigold stock powder to flavour pasta) to avoid wasting it.I find this gives me 4 portions of stew if I use this quantity, and I add a pkt of L McC veg sausage or if I have less than a full packet,I just chop up what I have to make it seem more:DCould use non veg sausage, but brown them first. Good with pasta, rice or potatoes.
Hoping to sleep tonight-like many of us,stressed with work.Trying lavender oil on my pillow which at least relaxes me a bit.Camomile tea something else I use rather than ask for sleeping pills, although think will have to try herbalist if this doesn't improve.
Goodnight-thanks to everyone for posting and keeping me company:A

Today dd gets married! Very excited but it has all felt like a runaway train! Will be back here soon for some belt tightening tips! I will have to be very frugal for a while!

In the meantime we have a wedding to enjoy and our dd is going to look beautiful. I have packed tissues as I know there will be tears but they will be tears of happiness!

Happy birthday ftm! Have a lovely day! x

Right off to organise breakfast for bride, bridesmaids, father of the bride and her big brother!

Catzine, hope the wedding goes well.

SmileyT, I laughed til I cried when I read your message, I take in students & other lodgers, my house is very 'lived in' in fact it's a shambles most of the time & I've never been turned down. I would assume that the man who visited doesn't live in the reall world! I'm sure your house is loved & lovely, TBH I've had a fair amount of damage done to my house over the years by lodgers & students, including chunks out of the walls, mug rings on tables, white labels stuck on walls & shedloads of broken crockery. I've never worried about the damage, but I would have if my home had been a showhome. I'm sure another college with 'normal people' doing the inspections would snap your hand off with enthusiasm'

    Morning All :)

Gosh lots to catch up on!

Chirpychick - nope they cannot do that! Its entirely illegal and its not only health and safety that will have a pink fit but also environmental health. You can report them anonomously and ask for your name not to be brought into it, but if they cannot provide sanitation then they should either provide a portaloo or send you all home. If you are worried about going down the constructive dismissal route then when you next contact the CAB ask for an advocate to help represent you on the grounds of your mental health, they may not be able to do it but will send you off to someone who can. You may also be eligible for legal aid so its worth checking that one out too.

Larumbelle -have you also requested in writing a workplace assessment? I had a chap who was disabled in my team and every year we got someone to come out and chat with him, ensure that everything was sorted out, if he needed a special chair etc etc. We had a great relationship anyway so if he needed anything he only had to ask, but I still did it anyway so I knew all his needs were covered. Your company CANNOT refuse you someone of your choosing to attend meetings with you, it is in contravention of employment law and will go against them. If you pm zzzlazydaisy she is an ex employment lawyer and she can advise you just what you need to do and the letters you need to write (employment isnt my thing but she is fab!)

Ceridwen - I always make a large yorkshire and then anything left over just goes in lunch boxes the next day. When I met my husband he used to cook for his crew on a Sunday, and used to buy Yorkshire puddings. Coming from Gods Own Country I objected and told him he should make them himself (he cant help it he comes from the wrong side of the penines!) - right then you make them he said. So I did! We went from 8 people on a sunday to over 20 in short time :rotfl:

VJsmum -everyone needs a rainy day account/running away fund/exotic holiday savings account. Dont tell him, save it and then you always have it. I used to teach financial capability and that was the one piece of advice I gave to everyone regardless of their situation, that you always need to have something somewhere for the unexpected.

Bit of a worry this week though, we live on a farm and have had more and more people wandering around. One of my neighbours went out into the garden on Sunday at 1020pm to find two blokes in their garden "looking for scrap". There have been a lot of metal thefts recently, and so I am now considering getting some geese to wander the big garden, not for any other purpose than the noise that they make!

We have had people coming to the door asking for scrap but thankfully have been put off by the size of the dog (who is a big softie really) and a hard glare and so have not returned. Makes you stop and think though as we are in a rural community and up until recently have been relatively protected from this sort of thing.

So going to peruse Focus for a new shed, some bigger gates and some geese and hopefully that will make them think twice!

I was reading the posts about community recently with interest. Recently in one of the villages there was an old chap with alzheimers went missing and standing in the village shop there was more than one person complaining that the police search and rescue helicopter had woken them up :eek: Surely to me if you are awake then either you accept that its for the good of someone who bless them its no fault of their own or you get out of bed and offer to help even if its only to make a cup of tea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we lived down south thats what always happened, police helicopter would search the woods and within 10 minutes there was a police car at the door asking if we had seen anything or the dogs would kick up a tink as they could hear the search teams. We became well known as a tea stop (as well as great for directions) It saddens me that we have lost that community spirit. :(

Catznine have a wonderful day x

FTM - happy birthday to you.....happy birthday to you:bdaycake:

Gosh have wittered on this morning (sorry) but hugs to all that need them xx

KIMITATSU - You won't be able to get owt at Focus I'm afraid. Its in the process of closing down everywhere right now - and my local one is now stripped bare and doors closed for good.

Hope you get the stuff you want okay. Its a shame that these thieves are getting worse - and I've certainly read several accounts recently on MSE of thieves stripping lead bare even from a lived-in house:eek:. I think thefts in the countryside round here must be getting worse too - as I've certainly noticed a couple of visual "inspections" of ME:eek: recently when I've been wandering around "off the beaten track" (only on public ground I hasten to add...) and have had to wait for them to get near enough to me to check out my face before they realised I'm obviously not "one of THEM" (ie a ne'er do well) and got the "Pass - Friend" reaction I'm used to having. So - this thieving is impacting on all of us - those that get attacked by these "characters" and those of us who obviously arent and have to remind ourselves not to take it personally if we are getting checked out visually by the occasional not-very-perceptive person who is wondering what sort of person it is they can see nearby. It is going through right now about being allowed to "use reasonable force" against intruders - errr...I thought we already COULD and my first reaction was "Oh - we can now do whatever we like to them - good.." but it is more along the lines of we are now going to be officially allowed to use force to protect our property, as well as our lives. Errr...some of us would have done so anyway.......LOL..least this will make it "legal".

Re the "keeping something somewhere for the unexpected" - I've only read instances on MSE in the last coupla days re one poster mentally setting aside money for a new kitchen on a house they were buying but their kitchen money went on an incontinent dog the previous owner having been allowed to wee everywhere and ruin things. Someone else commented that their new carpet money had gone on vets bills for the hens. I've had over £1,000 of unexpected expenses (mainly caused by other peeps:mad:) just since the beginning of the year. Unfortunately - these things happen.

EDIT: Found the thing re dealing with intruders:
