I loved the pillow case idea too, but I'd need a duvet cover, a large one!

I'm feeling very virtuous having helped someone else save money this morning:j
We needed cat biscuits (I'm sorry to say that one cat will only eat Royal Canin, not very money saving I'm afraid) I had counted on buying some at the market as one of the stores was selling three small bags for a quid but they weren't there today:(. We popped into the pet superstore place nearby and firstly they had four boxes of felix for £10 and it included senior (we have four aged kitties) so bought another eight boxes :j even though we had bought six from sainsbugs yesterday as they had £1 off theirs. So that's three weeks catfodder bought.
There was a lady buying a feliway at the till for £25 :eek: so I waited for her outside and told her that the vet up the road sells them for £16. She seemed very pleased so I hope she uses them as they're also an independent vets and can probably use the business.:DI was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Evening all
Just came on to say that the Lidl by me is selling Branston Baked beans for £1 for 4 tin packs. The offer is only on today and tomorrow.
Just might have to buy some more.......
Have a good evening.

Flowertotmum: you put your foot down and ruddy-well keep it down! If one of your daughters would like you to mind her babes for an hour or two she can damned-well ask you in advance. Then, at the very least, you can decline if it's not convenient or you don't feel like it. To put you on the spot and take it amiss and to then ask your OH the same question as if you were inaudible or your decision could be so very easily overridden is just downright rude! Don't stand for it or every one of them will be walking all over you 24/7.0

I picked up loads a few years back and made bun and marmalade pudding with some of them.
Slice the buns in half, slather with marmalade and arrange in an ovenproof dish (I sort of angled them half standing up). Cover with custard (home made or tinned) and backe at 180C for about 30 mins.
I have to say it was delicious and went down a treat. Have made it several times since with lime marmalade and once with some HM plum jam in place of the marmalade.
Wonder if any of the supermarkets have any hot cross buns left - I quite fancy some pudding now!0 -

Her dh collects shower doors to strip and weigh in the aluminium, furniture to use themselves or some they have sold at the auctions. He once got an old wardrobe and put it in the auction and it went for 150 dollars. They have hads loads of useful stuff. If we didn't have yobs here I would love something like it.
They're "Kerbside Collection Days". The council used to allocate a couple each year. You put your big heavy unwanteds on the pavement in the morning, and the council collects them in the afternoon. It was the unwritten rule that you could go round in a morning and pick out what you wanted. Now it's stopped, and flytipping has gone wild. Flytipping is worse here because there's so much national forest idiots can choose to do it in. So chances are clean up is now costing the council far more than the kerbside collection was.
I miss car boots more than anything here though. People have garage sales, and it really isn't the same. You have to drive around hunting for them and when you get there there's nothing you want anyway. Whereas a good car boot is like a treasure trove. I structure every trip to England to include the maximum number of Sundays to guarantee me a good carbooting :rotfl:
With the carbooting (for clothes and gifts), buying sunscreen at 1 pound from asda, 10p toothpaste from tesco, toothbrushes from homebargains and a variety of other things, it offsets the cost of my flight considerably :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
 Blasted mole has been back again and now has a bramble up his run
Boy do I need new glasses!!!I read that bit wrongly first time
Thank you for that great irrigation tip, GreyQueen. :T I've stripped the local library of books on gardening, as I am determined to sort out the garden this year.
I liked to think of it as an eco-haven for insect and plant life, supporting a rich variety of avian visitors. Which is a long-winded way of saying that it was a jungle.
Most of the cutting and weeding work is done (as am I!) and I know that I'll have to choose my crops carefully, bearing in mind the lateness of the season, and my own inexperience with kitchen garden.
Keeping the garden watered was one of my big worries because I work odd hours at times. But your milk bottle irrigation tip is absolutely brilliant :T.0 -
coolcait I misread it as well. Was feeling very sorry for the poor mole :rotfl:GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500
