The impact of CCJ's?

Hello

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum- I wasn't sure where to post.

I have 2 CCJ's: One from Sept 2007, and one from Nov 2008. Both have been paid off in full. I have a default on a loan in 2007 which was also settled back in 2007 but still appears on my credit report. :(

I was accepted for a vanquis card in sept 2010, and have behaved impecibly with it- paying it off in full every month and have recently received a £500 credit increase. (Which I wont be using due to the interest). I also have online store accounts for Very & Simply be which I use from time to time- and pay those off in full too. :T

My question is- what impact will these 2 old CCJ's have for my future. I am aware that they will be visable on my credit report until 2013 and 2014 respectively, but will it continue to have an adverse effect on my abilty to get credit: ie a mainstream card or mortgage?

I would like to get a mortgage with my bf, but do not want to get rejected for this beacause of my past- or slur his good credit by association.

I'm scared to even try as I am actively trying to increase my credit rating, and don't want to effect that.

Is there even any point in me trying to build my score with vanquis- when my CCJ's aren't even cleared til 2014?

Any feedback will be appreciated :) L

As far as I know once gone they will be gone but I might be wrong.
Keep the Vanquis card tidy and you should have a decent rating by the time they go.
Youll have a few years good history so imo its well worth keeping it.

Thanks for your reply. I will keep building the credit even if it just an exercise in handling finances properly for me.

I wasn't too clear before, I meant that is there any chance of me being considered for a mainstream card/ mortgage between now and 2014- before the ccjs drop off? Or shall I not even consider applying as I will be rejected outright with a CCJ?

I fully intend to live within my means in the future as the whole bailiff/CCJ experience was quite frankly, horrific and has scared me sh*tless regarding money!!

It is possible to get a mortgage with paid CCJs showing on file. But it won't be at the best rate and you'll likely need a larger deposit than a person in the same financial positions but with a clean credit file.

Not sure of any mainstream cards that would allow you one with a CCJ (there may be some I mean I don't know of any) - you might be able to gradually get slightly better ones, perhaps something like a creation one.
