4yr old girl's party - activity ideas?

Hi,

It's my daughter's birthday on saturday, and we were planning a lovely party with an outdoor picnic and ball pool. However, it now looks like it will be raining all day, so we need to come up with some indoor activities. Can anyone suggest things we can do with 10 4-5yr old girls inside? I've already thought of them making their own wrap-type sandwiches, but I could do with some more craft ideas.

Any help is most welcome....

Decorating buns or biscuits is always popular. Buy the cheap supermarket fairy buns and a tub of frosting and let them loose with sprinkles, silver balls, etc. morrisons have a really good selection.

How about old stalwarts such as pass the parcel and musical chairs - they seem to go down well too.

Make your own head bands and clips? Get some cheap plastic headbands and clips add some glue and cheap embellishments (flower foams, crystals etc) they will love that!

Or beading? Make your own necklaces or bracelets?

my children love decorating biscuits, weather home made gingerbread men, or digestive. a selection of sweets, cake sprinkle andicing and they are happy for ages.

or how about making a selection of playdough in different colours. Use cookies cutters, cotton reels, pasta shapes anythign can make pretty patterns. plus it is cheap and easy to make and will alst lots longer than the party. and if you want after the party, each child could take some home in a a little sandwich bag.

I've had parties where the kids make their own party hats. Lots of glitter, brightly coloured cut up paper, tissue paper, crepe paper, foil........then let them loose with the PVA and voila their very own party hat to wear. Just a bit of A4 card, cut in half and then sellotaped together to make a longer piece.

That is also "pin" the tail on the donkey - just draw the donkey on some wallpaper and attach the tail using some blue tac.

Poundland often has some great craft kits e.g. "Make your own bracelets/stain glass window pictures/badge" etc etc

Have a look around your local stores.
