Help with letter please

Frustration
I posted a thread yesterday regarding an old loan with LLoyds I have.
I feel silly and have been quite naive - but in my defence, I have been unwell for a long time.
The orginal loan was for 6k. Due to my ill health, I had to make lower payments.
I was contacted from time to time, by phone to chat about this, and when I informed that I was still unemployed, the caller from Lloyds basically said 'ok, not to worry'. There was no real explanation as to what would happen.
But having notice that my loan is in a minus figure - it seems that I have only been paying off the interest for sum time.
If my calculations are correct - I only had about 1k left to pay - so this has now come as a bit of a blow.
I need to write to them to sort this out - but I want my letter to sound confident and as though I am in charg, so to speak
Can anybody help me draft a letter?
Sorry again for being and idiot on here
