Does anyone use pressed powder just on its own? I always remember my Mum giving up foundation eventually as she got older because she thought it didn't look the same and she took to just using pressed powder with no blusher. It looked really good on her. I would like to try this, does anyone know of a pressed powder for dry skin (not loose powder).

I've never got on with foundation, so have always used concealer to hide dark circles, and translucent powder. Its fine, but I only like to use a little dusting, as can look chalky on my skin tone. I use Boots No7.0

Hi is it the no7 creme touch powder you use. Which moisturiser do you use with iv0

The best powder I have found to use in its own is Estee Lauder Double Wear, its less harsh on the skin then dw liquid foundation but gives a perfect finish, you will need extra moisturiser underneath so it dosent settle into fine lines, I'm going to buy some this afternoon actually cos I'm bored;)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Sorry to hijack, citigirl,
@gg how do you find exactly that the DW liquid foundation is harsh on skin? I have been contemplating this one as have heard it gives great lasting cover and several people on here have recommended it?0 -
Through experience Bronnie, EL stuff gives me tiny little bumps under the skin that I cant do anything about except wait for them to go its a real shame as its one of the best foundations I have used EL DW light does the same but the powder is much better, for me anyway, lots of others have suffered with this too and also the same with MAC foundations which are part of the EL family, if I can remember from your previous posts you have good skin that doesnt seem to have any sensitivity so hopefully you'll be ok, EL are very generous with their samples so you could try it out for a couple of weeks and get colour matched too, my skin reacts after about 2 months of everyday use, I have found an alternative superb liquid foundation that is only slightly less effective than DW and much cheaper, its Revlon Colourstay, this mixed with a wrinkle filler (a tip from jennie on here:T) gives one of the best results I've had in a long time but like I said I'm bored now.......:rotfl:Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Please excuse me again, citigirl...
Thanks gg, I don't really get too much trouble with my skin, but have a lot of uneveness in colour tone and like a foundation to even this out. Have been using this since January, which gives good, natural and lasting cover and quite a youthful-looking glow, but not sure I am 100% convinced by the oil free formulation on my skin. Did get some dry patches on my cheeks when I started wearing it which is very unusual for me, so have been a bit more cautious with it and mostly tending not to wear it from morning to night. It's ok but don't think I'll buy again. I do like YSL Perfect Touch too , but for evening out skin tone, the Clinique one is better.
Will def try some DW samples next time I| go to town. Which wrinkle filler do you use? Much go and find jennie's tip, missed that one!!
Thanks:)0 -
You might like the DW Light then Bronnie, I find with the DW liquid it can settle into lines and it did give me dryish patches and I have oily skin, I'm not sure though if it was becuase I just didnt get on with it overall, I used to mix it 50/50 with Spotlight also from EL which is a tone corrector and brightner, it was a really really good result.
Jennies tip was in the middle of along thread about a week or so ago I started off with a sample of Olay wrinkle filler, I didnt like the product on its own but mixed with foundation, in this case Revlon Colourstay it really made a difference but it made my foundation rather pale when I ran out of that the only one I could find locally was Soap n Glory, I tried it on its own and thought it ws dreadful, far too silicone like and greasy feeling but mixed with the Revlon at a ratio of about 70/30 (30 being the filler) it was even better than the Olay one and my foundation colour stayed true.
Good luck with the samples, if you take some little pots with you they will give you samples of products they might normally not but you should have no probs with the foundation and you could ask for a sample mascara I got one today so they are about:DThank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0
