stainless steel cleaning??

Options
Hi, hope someone can help!

We just got a new kitchen in and after only a couple of months the draining board is all marked.

Now I have tried degreaser and a small amount of bleach.
I have rubbed and I have scrubbed.
But nothing will get rid of these marks and now it looks really dirty when it really isn't!!
Anyone got any ideas??

We have a small chain of local shops called "Roy's of Wroxham" my wife purchased stainless steel cleaner from them & it comes in a 500ml bottle similar too window cleaner. It's called "Buster Stainless Steel" and their website is:

Challs Dot Com you might be able to buy direct or find a local supplier.

    Hello Dawnylou

It sounds like your draining board is a low grade stainless steel alloy, which will be more prone to staining.

I posted a message some time ago about stainless steel cutlery and how to tell what you're getting for your money.  You may have noticed signs which show for example Stainless Steel 18/8.  The figure 18 refers to the quantity of Chromium present in the alloy, the figure 8 refers to the quantity of Nickel.

Have you ever noticed that the cutlery used for pub food is dull but that when you eat in a posh restaurant, the cutlery gleams?  It has nothing to do with the dishwasher, it is the grade of stainless steel cutlery that they provide.

It is quite possible that the stains can be removed by careful rubbing with a fine emery paper, ask for help at a DIY store.  The oxidation stains will be removed as you rub and the shiny stainless steel will be revealed.

Sorry to go on a bit, I work with metal alloys.

    Hope this helps.

Try a product called Autosolve a German make & can be bought from car stores. Excellent stuff.

Personally I wouldn't use emery paper whatever the grade! Chances are you'd wish you had the stain back.
