  • Just found out that I missed out on £40 cashback at Quidco.

Tried to get my car insurance through the site but cookies tracked to a different site apparently. A little annoying - but it was still much much cheaper than last year and other insurers.

I've just made an additional overpayment of £1000.

I suspect it will be that last largish payment for a while. I've had another look at our budget and shaved a few pounds off it.

Thinking of setting up a new diary in January with updated figures and a new target.

Congrats on the OP - thats fantastic!
  • I've just renewed my broadband. I managed to stay on an old package, which is free from traffic shaping and has no download limit. Got 6 months free, which works out at less than £5/month.

Mortgage wise, we've just hit the 60% LTV mark, which is great and means we've paid off 15% in 18 months.

On the slightly negative side, spending on nappies has increased exponentially :P
  • Now sub £80k.
That's a big milestone for us.

Will know more in the new year about exact balance.
  • 1) Bank paid £80 into account as apology for an error they made. This will go towards mortgage.
    2) Paid £3500 off mortgage this morning.
  • Just been informed that my tax for self employed work this year will be slightly less than expected and can be collected from my employed work payslips.

This means remembering to keep that money aside, but also that it's sitting in my account earning interest rather than the taxman's. It also potentially avoids faffing round with a possible refund of tax later on and having to get my return in early - which is a relief considering that I really don't have time to sort out a tax return right now.
  • Hi BaconandEggs, that's a fab OP so early in the year :)

    Thanks Tilly. :)

To some extent, it feels like last year's. I am only allowed to overpay by 10% of the current balance, so was limited by that last year (and put the money to one side). Today's payment put last year's total at around the same level as that of the previous year.
  • Heard that H-fax are changing the rules on their rewards account. Going to spend a bit of time this week setting up DD's to ensure we still receive the fivers to each of the accounts.

I also need to contact the home mortgage insurance company to see if I can get a reduction.
  • Just sold £80 worth of stuff on eBay. :)

Still got loads of stuff in the garage to list.

Need to go through my Amazon inventory and re-price everything competitively.
