Advice on where to go for help?

Hi
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend
I'm just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on where to go for some help. I'm around £5,500 in debt. I suffer quite badly from depression and anxiety and due to a lot of things I'll go on to describe it's been getting worse lately.
I've just lost my job, my whole department got paid off. I'm hoping to do temp work until I get something more permanent but there doesn't seem to even be any temp work around that I can do. I've got a few recruitment drives coming up so fingers crossed.
My mum's also ill with cancer and I'm finding it really difficult to cope. I'm glad I'm around during the day to help her out, but it just seems to be bad news after bad news and I feel really upset and alone. I'm looking into getting some support and counselling to help me cope with this.
Due to all this, I'm obviously not feeling too great and each day is a huge struggle. I was hoping to find a company or a charity like CCCS who would be able to deal with my creditors for me at a difficult time like this, to take some of the pressure off me. However, the CCCS debt remedy suggests I write letters to my creditors, so they won't deal with anyone for me. I'm trying to keep myself together enough so that I can try and sort things out so I have support, but I don't know anywhere else to turn to.
Does anyone know of any other companies like CCCS who would be able to deal with my creditors for me while I cope with everything else?
Thanks

The CAB are very helpful in these situations. They can get you set up with a repayment plan (even if you just post the letters yourself) but they'll help you budget what is affordable by doing a ful breakdown of income and outgoings. No matter who deals with them, the creditors will still contact you and try to make you pay more for a short period anyway. But the CAB can also check you are receiving all your benefits, are you a main carer for your mum too?
You need to keep in contact with your GP also and mental health services (if you're lucky enough to have a decent team). £5 k is a relatively low amount of debt, but i understand its still worrying for you. First things first, get your health in order because you will need that when you find a new job.
I forgot to mention, you will also get the support you need right here on this forum. We're all in a similar boat (at least debt wise) so be sure to keep in contact especially when feeling low

Hey Superbiatch
Thanks so much for your reply, will get on to my local CAB and see if I can get an appointment to speak to someone.
I'm hoping to get to my doctors this week, keep myself on track, you're right I need to make sure I'm ok for when I return to employment!
Thanks so much for your help, it's honestly great to know there are others out there and not feel alone! x0 -
Have you applied for Jobseekers & Council Tax Benefit?
Does your mum receive DLA or Attendance Allowance? If so you may qualify for Carer's Allowance if you care for her more than a certain number of hours per week.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0
