First Direct - big bullies

Hi,

Just had another threatening letter from First Direct and just wondered if they were as heavy handed and scary with anyone else.

Have set up a DMP and most companies have been pretty good. First Direct however just seem to continue to try and put the scarers in me.

They didn't accept my DMP and wanted more, and now they are demanding the whole amount or else... plus they want a copy of my SOA. For goodness sake, how many times do i have to go through it with them.

You don't scare me First Direct!
I just wish they would shut up or take me to court, i can't pay anymore than i already do, and at least then my interest would be stopped. Have they done this to anyone here?

I have no problem with them, how much do you owe?

    Hi,

    Only about £1100 - £600 overdraft and £500 c card.
Have offered £7 a month and they have said they want at least £12, which obviously i can't do.

So frustrating as it means that (and Natwest) the interest they are charging is more than my monthly payments!

  • Agree with Mr Lister, although I'd scrap the libyan bank thing (???) and just get a few mates to open first direct accounts.

Rob paul to pay paul, in other words.

    Cosmic justice :)
    Sig to go here...

Those are two different debts. The largest is circa £600. They are not going to take you to court for that. It's scare. Set up a Standing Order or send them monthly postal orders for the amounts you can afford by signed for post. Then they can't realistically take you to court because the law prevents them from returning your payments or from getting a court result worth having against a debtor who is paying already.
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

How much do you earn a week/how many hours do you work? A fiver extra a month is nothing, I'd suggest you do what they ask

What complete rubbish. Which budget should she take it from? Should she underfeed the children? Or stop using the electricity? Perhaps it would be best if she illegally watches TV without a licence from now on?

The law says they can not have what you have not reasonably got.
