Any advice please

Any advice people can give me to pass onto my friend would be greatly appreciated.
My friend lives with her partner and their six month old son,they bought their house nearly a year ago and are paying £350 a month interest only on the mortgage.Their house is currently up for sale but so far usold.
She is currently on maternity leave from work(only about 1 week left) so he has been paying the mortgage and bills,she pays for food and baby things etc.
He came home yesterday and said it was over between them and in the past 24hours has turned very nasty.
My question is if he decides to move out and stops paying the mortgage what help can she receive,she will soon be working 16 hours a week and claiming working and child tax credits so will be on a low income,also what would happen as it is a joint mortgage if he just leaves and stops paying at any point can his name be taken of the mortgage if he is not contributing.

Suggest that your friend consults a solicitor or makes an appointment with the CAB for advice.

It is not possible just to walk away from a contractual liability such as a mortgage because he no longer wishes to contribute. In addition he will have to make a contribution for child maintenance.
