We spend roughly £65 pp per month (food, toiletries and household materials) which is roughly £16 pp per week.
@TravellingAbuela: We live in West London so nearest shops are Tesco, Sainsburys, M&S, Waitrose, but we also go to the open market every Saturday to get seasonal fruits and veg.
For the last couple of years we have been shopping at Tesco but have recently switched to Waitrose (I know what you're thinking!) BUT we find that some of their essential/basic range is sometimes cheaper. We've decided to continue shopping around as much as we can to get competitive prices (esp. for meats, eggs and cheeses where margins can differ quite a bit).0 -
Seriously I thought I am frivolous in spending spending between £50-£70 for the two uf us and occassional third person, but £130 a week!!!! Wooow...
How do I do it? I don't know - I just go and shop and buy everything I like. I shop at Tesco, Sainsburys, M&S (mainly on Dine in for 2 for £10 and ready made lasagne for days I don't want to cook) and just started ordering from Ocado sometimes...0 -

We spend around £80-£90 at weekly shop at Tesco or Morrisons we buy lost of offers so sometimes we pay £90 sometimes less. We dont buy lots of meat though but we do but salads/fruit. Then we stock up on bread/milk in week occasionally we spend things to stock up on at Poundland/wilkos like other day bout 4 packets of brown baps for 20p each (branded make too) We then freeze things when we can
Its £25 per person for a week I didnt state what but I assumed you knew what I meant when OP said weeklyVenusflytrap wrote: »Geez! £100 per month for four people? That's £6.00 per wk per person? Pls tell...0 -

No need to shout! I suspect that Any was responding to the OP who disclosed that they had been spending £130 a week on their groceries for two of them.
In any case, what other people choose to spend on groceries is up to them and their bank manager. I don't think there's any point in being competitive about it.0 -
Got my knickers in a bit of a twist there - sorry. Should have realised that the OP's post was still the ref. point.

Not being competitive (or maybe just a little!) but genuinely would like to discover ways of saving more w/out compromising too much on variety and nutrition.0 -
The OP madmazza10 said that they spent £130/week and considering this thread is to help the OP the others were most likely stating about the OP.Venusflytrap wrote: »For the upteenth time - we spend £130.00 PER MONTH for two of us!!!
I have to say £130 is a lot for 2 people to spend on food, there would have to be quite a bit (a lot) of waste surely? My partner and I don't even spend that a month and we include chinchilla food/items, bathroom items, cleaning supplies etc in that.
We usually shop in the following places - Mr S, the butchers for my partners meat, health food shops, a local pet store and lidl.
We don't have any fruit and veg stalls or good grocery stores near us, if we did we'd go there for vegetables and fruit.
Even £70/week that the OP has got it down to seems a bit much (to me at any rate) - £35/week for each person - but it is certainly a step in the right direction
. OP it depends on if this is possible in your budget now your partner doesn't have a job or if it is still not possible. If you are fine spending this new amount and you are comfortable doing so that is great for you
. If however this is not in keeping for the new budget - you are still spending more than you are getting - you need to think about this more or maybe a different area (electricity, gas, transport etc) needs to be looked at. I do think it is amazing that you have halved your shopping bill, very well done :T. I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy
