Will there ever be a 'good' umberella?

Hello :embarasse, I promise I wasn't drunk when I posted this :rotfl:... Despite the time! I just couldn't sleep - and the whole brolly thing had come into my head when I remembered turning up to work looking like a pitt bull's !!!! that morning
.
Anyway back to the umberellas. You lot seem to know a thing or two more about them than me. I remember I left and expensive Brolly at my course years ago (£20 also Accessorize). When I went back it was 'gone'. Being completely and utterly livid I always used to look out into the crowds coming home in rain to see if anyone had it above their head i.e to see if anyone had stolen my Brolly :rotfl:. I think I have stuck to pound shop ones ever since. Even though they are not much different from any other highstreet umberella.
I heard the bird cage umberellas are good, but they don't fold up (compact). And I don't have the patience to carry something that large around with me all day. Although I do like the concept of it.
Thanks for the ideas guys, I like the look of some of the suggestions. On average how long should a good one last - I mean, what should I expect? By the sounds of it I do have high expectations

Sorry to bump but I just stumbled upon this thread. For me, walker style umbrella's always stand the test of rain, wind - and time! I know you said you don't like to carry something large, but you can always hook the brolly over your arm when not using it. Also, Moschino do very good brollies that come with their own sling in matching fabric, so you can wear it over your shoulder when not in use. I've bought two of these in the last few years, both from TK maxx about £15 and they're brilliant. I love TK maxx!0
