  • Hi

Just another thought, if you are using lots of spices etc, can you buy from asian supermarket or similar, I get whatever I can from a local chinese supermarket at a fraction of the cost. I agree with you on Asda/Walmart but I'm afraid I can't afford my principles, so now I compromise :o

tbh I think most people (not mse) overbuy, I know I was terrible. You get into a habit of buying xxx amount of xxx every week and then realise you've got a cupboard full. It isn't easy, particularly if you're doing mixed meals - you said dh is a veggie so I'm assuming the rest of you aren't. Quorn etc is expensive unless you find any in the reduced to clear section. Sounds like you all have a very healthy home cooked diet, put me to shame with all those homemade goodies. :o Off to look at the os board for inspiration.

If you don't have mains sewerage then that could explain why your bill is low.

I'd love to, but I live in a very traditional, rural part of the country - tbh I doubt there's an Asian supermarket in the county, never mind nearby! We do however have a wholefood warehouse in the nearest town, where I buy a few things in bulk. Trouble is that although better value the outlay is high in the first place, which doesn't always work with cashflow. Gosh I'm seeing obstacles everywhere this morning!

    Hey ho.
If you can't be a good example, be a dire warning :D
