Thanks for the advice everyone unfortunetly some of my utility bills allready went out of my bank on friday with it being the first of the month for my april bills so its too late there.
I've resorted to trying to scrape the money together by selling certain items and such on ebay just to come up with the money so i can just get rid of the horrible mess and never look back at wonga ever again but i think i'm going to fail to make enough by the paydate in which wonga is due and plus by the time anything i sell transfers to my bank from paypal it will be way past the payment date. So looks like no matter what i do to try and sort out the situation i'm basically going to pay for my mistakes of going anywhere near the company. I just hope on the paydate they dont overdraw my account too much with there attempts to take the cash that isnt there before i can get through to there offices at 9am or its going to set me into a spiralling debt hole i cant get out of with my bank and other bills.

All i can say is i'm learning the hardway and i know it's going to bite bad. If anyone is even considering these sort of companies as a quick fix or a quick way to get cash i suggest you avoid them at all costs and never look back its the best thing you can do.

    Little update on my situation.

On friday when i was so upset about the whole situation i read a few topics here in the forum in regards to wonga. On one of the topics there was an email address to contact wonga so i sent them an email explaining what had happened and how i was very upset about the way i had been treated by customer services when i tried to give them advance notice.

About five minutes ago after my last post i recieved a call from a really nice gentlemen at wonga who explained he had recieved my email and was glad to sort out a payment plan for me. After talking for a few minutes to sort it out my payment plan has been set in motion so i am hoping that now things should get better and i have no problems. The gentleman was very appoligetic as to how i was treated on the phone with the original gentleman on the wonga team and was very helpfull to the situation. I thanked him especially for calling me on a sunday non the less to help sort out the situation and come to an arrangement. I logged into my wonga account and sure enough my payment plan is all there lined up ready to go. So i am hoping this will now sort itsself out and i can pay it off in the time i needed.

I want to take a moment to thank money saving expert and its members if it wasn't for you all and your advice and as i said the contact info i used i would be at my witts end by now. This site really is amazing and i thank everyone for the time they take each day to help others in these situations you all really are amazing.

    Happy to be corrected :)
I am surprised to hear they would be so uncharitable though.

Well all that money to fund MP expense claims and second homes don't grow on trees.

Thats really good news and glad that you got some help from here AND Wonga!

Nice to hear that they can be understanding and helpful when people have problems, they get a huge amount of bad press on here, but they provide a service that people occasionally use, and the OP's story reaffirms that if you're honest and upfront AND TRY, that they will try and help especially when you get to the right person, just glad that myself am now in the position that I don't need there services.

Hope that you are really pleased with yourself now OP and that your problems will soon be a thing of the past :)

Could almost do with having this as a sticky on how to deal with Wonga when you want to pay, but just can't right now
Opinions are like bottoms - We all have one, just some stink more than others

Service Attributable Pension - War Pension - War Pensioners Unemployability Supplement - War Pensioners Invalidity Allowance - War Pensioners Comforts Allowance - War Pensioners Mobility Allowance - War Pensioners Child Allowance - Housing Benefit - Council Tax Benefit

To be fair wonga do have a reputation on mse of being the best of a bad bunch.

There are many pdl companies much worse than Wonga.

It's never advised to use a pdl company but if you decide to ignore the advice, then go for wonga.
  • I'm in a bit of a dilemma as I have Wonga and Minicredit due to be paid on Friday 1st July. I've contacted them both about rolling over, but I'm not sure I want to given that I am now at the stage where enough is enough. Between just those 2 they would be taking £85 in interest off me, not to mention the fee MC charged to do the fast payment into my account (£15)...that's a hundred quid gone up in smoke. I know when I had a new debit card (against the same account) some time last year Wonga were unable to take the money, BUT I still feel like I wish to close the account now as I also have a few of the other offenders - WDS. PDE and Mem/PDUK to deal with. I don't have a cheque book account and once I am rid of the debit card/account then I'm not sure how I can pay all my other bills in between the old one closing and new account opening. I guess I could just take a chance and see how it goes...mortgage is paid for this month and it's not payday for another 3 weeks or so, so hopefully new account will have opened by then. I bank with Lloyds TSB at the moment - will my money be okay if I move it out of the current account into a savings account? To my memory Lloyds didn't used to apply logic and use another account to pay something if current account short...but who knows the capability of the automatic payment permission...!?

I rue the day I ever took a Payday loan as, similar to all other experiences on here, it just spirals out of control quite easily due to the ridiculous interest added on each time. if you feel tempted or lured into a payday loan my advice would be just don't do it.
