Online banking after discharge ?

Have a basic account (think it's called Cash Card with a visa debit card) with Barclays and as I was discharged last month, I would like to activate online banking.
Spoke to someone at my branch about getting online banking going, but was told that it would not be available for 6 years  (she didn't even bother to check my account details or even switch on her PC).
I rang a Barclays 0844 number and was told to go to my branch with ID and see what they can do.
I'm confused with this conflicting info.
Could someone clarify the situation and give me advice on how to proceed please?

The Barclays basic account only restricts access to online banking during the BR period. Once you are discharged they should happily remove that restriction.
So yes, go back into your branch, but with confirmation of your discharge, and ask for online access to your account. If no joy with the counter staff then ask to speak to the manager.
Just checked and says on Barclay's website that the Basic Account (with no overdraft) has online facilities. So the restriction truly is for BR period only. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Can I go to a different Barclays branch (than the one on my account statement) because it appears to be run by a bunch of lazy so and so's ?
Is there any information anywhere that I can print off that clearly says that online banking restrictions are lifted once discharged ?
Perhaps I can write a letter to Barclays and get someone to confirm the above (which I can take to the Branch), if anyone here knows which address I should write to ?0 -
Yes, you can go into any branch I should think, it's worth a try anyway. Or you could write to their Customer Service centre or even try ringing them, to see if they'll sort it for you. You should have an address either on the back of your debit card, on paper statements or any other letters sent to you.
I would say printing off from the link I gave you should be enough. The account comes with online banking, the restriction was only place on you as an undischarged BR, now you are discharged you are effectively the same as any other customer wanting that account and should be entitled to the same services. When I joined, I needed a name.
