Two agencies passed my CV on to two companies

One on tuesday and one on wednesday but no word yet, bad sign?

thats agencies for you. I inquired about a job via an agency two weeks ago-still nothing! They are a total law unto themselves and should be treated with the contempt they deserve IMO

Not necessarily, agencies have a bad reputation (one I agree with) but are a necessary evil in todays job market.

Remember you may not know the closing date for the jobs and how many agencies are chasing the companies for the business. It depends upon the agreement between the company and the agencies, some will be sole source and others first to get the candidate placed gets the commission. Also the agency may not have been told anything from the company. There are so many variables it's really not worth worrying about. You may/may not hear anything for days or weeks or not at all. It's just life so assume nothing is going to happen and continue your own job search. Who knows in a couple of weeks you may get that call for interview :)

Don't blame the agency. I've moved from an agency to being an in house recruiter for a major insurance company and sometimes it can take 2-3 weeks for a response to come back.

From the agency passing it to us, we might pick it up 3-5 days later depending how busy we are and if we're in the office - sometimes we can be interviewing off site 5 days in one working week. Then we pass it to the recruiting manager who may give us a decision that day, or more likely 1-3 weeks later, despite us chasing them.

The agencies will chase us for responses but until we can give them one, they can't come back to you.

    HTH.
