CCCS How does it work?

Currently with a debt management company and so really want to leave them,i am temped to go at it alone but am petrified they will not accept my offers etc. im totally rubbish at writing letters etc and how to word everything to make sure its right. I have been on the CCCS Website and think they could probably help me but worried about leaving my current fee charging company as im worried i will get hounded in the meantime! can anyone give me advice on how everything works?i spoke to my debt management today and they asked me to ring one of my creditors to get them to transfer a debt,i thought that was thier job! How easy is it to move to CCCS,how often do you send statements over to creditors?

Speak to CCCS, they are the company you want to take your accounts to?
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

    Hi

It should be quite simple to move over. First you need to look what the terms are with your current DMP co - often you have to give 4weeks written notice.
Then you need to collect together data on all your debts, the latest statements for any sending statements, but for any that aren't its worth writing to them and asking them for one (this gives you the latest balance and allows you to see which are still charging interest, if any).

After that you then need to decide if you want to do your own DMP or for CCCS to manage it for you. If you want to do your own CCCS and/or national debltine will provide you with lots of template letters you can use to write to your creditors, make your payment offers etc, or you could switch to using CCCS to do your DMP for you. If you do that then it will work the same as your previous DMP except you won't pay a fee and your probably will get a better service.

Whether on a managed DMP or doing your own it would be usual to send a new income & expenditure every 6-12months (or the old one with a note that there has been no change in your circumstances).

Your exisiting company are likely to be creaming of a percentage of what you pay for themselves.

CCCS, the CAB, your local Community Legal Advice Centre etc will do the same job for free.

Both you & your creditors should therefore be better off than you are now if you switch :)
