The 'in' places for youngsters to drink are mostly in Queen Street just behind the Metropole Hotel. You can have a 'reasonably quiet' drink in 'Scruffy Murphy's' in Corporation Street - next door to one of the giant electrical stores (Comet or Curry's) sorry, I can't remember which shop it is. Can't recommend any of the pubs for eating don't think many of them 'do' food as such. There are restaurants of all persuasions including chains, eg Harry Ramsdens, Nando's Bella Pasta, nothing noteworthy IMO.

Depends what type of thing you are looking for?
  • Always had a decent meal at The Littern Tree, across the road from Walkabout opposite North Pier and The Counting House not too bad either.

Litten Tree on Queen Street is ok for food. There is Wetherspoons on the promenade.
