When we took our interest only mortgage out with the coventry BS this year, there was one small box to complete on how the mortgage would be repaid. We just wrote "lump sum repayments" and no further questions were asked.
I would have thought it would be acceptable to downsize in the future to repay the mortgage.

lenders as a whole are being pressured from FSA to make sure that adequate checks are made in relation to interest-only mortgages, sounds like the Halifax are following what criteria they have in place0
