Good morning all,
I have a query regarding reclaiming tax after my manager "forgot" to pay me for 1/2 weeks for my last pay day. He said that it will be added to together with my next pay day but I said to him that I will end up getting taxed more and he replied that "it wont a lot, I know this tax stuff"
It turns out that I have been taxed 80GBP more because of this. usually i get taxed 20 pounds for working 30hours, this time i was taxed 100 pounds for 50 hours?! something isnt right surely? I am a student working part time and every little helps!
I am just wondering if I should go directly to my employer, however it might come out of their budget? Or whether to call the government?
Thanks for your help in advance,
Marc

No-one can work out what has happened on the details you have given. What is needed is you gross wage and tax paid for the week you were paid short along with gross and tax paid for the normal 30 hour week before and the week after when extra was paid. Also needed is your tax code and basis and your total gross and tax for the year from your last payslip.0

Thanks Chris,
My payslips are sent electronically, so I can print out the one prior to the pay for just one week, the payslip for where I got one weeks wage and then this latest one with the extra hours added.
The gross tax paid is on my payslip, correct
So, who do I take this evidence to? HM Revenue and customs? I think they are closed on the weekend..
Thanks in advance,

It's the end of the tax year next week, so you will have a P60 from your employer shortly.
To reclaim tax you have overpaid you need to send in your P60 (or P45 but you won't have this because you are still working) plus an explanatary letter and they will refund you if you have overpaid.http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/incometax/overpaid-thro-job.htm#2
If you are a student working part time, how much do you earn per year? If you earnt less than £6470 since April last year then you should get all of the tax paid refunded."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." There is no-one to take this to, it was an offer to hopefully explain to you what was going on with your wages if you could give me the details asked for.0
