Orange mobile phone default help.

Hello Steve at Orange Helpers,
Just to say thank you for your advice on here. (And to everyone else too who offered kind words and positive comments). Anyway, immediately after your advice my son sent 3 emails and had numerous telephone conversations with a young lady called Vicky in Customer Services. I have to say, she was incredibly helpful and really polite. However, the first email was forwarded on 6th May...since then we have had one email acknowledging the problem but nothing since. My son and I are now getting desperate. His mortgage provider has advised him again, that he can have his mortgage providing the default is removed. The seller of the property has also advised they would be prepared to accept his offer. I have never publically divulged such personal information before but as I've said, we are desperate to move this situation forward as soon as possible and I aim to exhaust all avenues. Please, please, please would you be able to help in any way at all? I do have a reference number for my son from Orange but would prefer to forward that to you in private. Please would you help to resolve this ssue?
In hope,
Tess0 -
Hi Tessie Bear,
Sorry for the late reply just picked this up. Unfortunately there is nothing more I can personally do it will need taking up with the Referrals Team. One suggestion that may help you however is you are able to to contact the credit reference agencies e.g Experian to advise you are in dispute over this matter and request a note be put on your Son's credit file.
If you have any further questions and wish to discuss the matter further you can contact my colleagues on the pages on our profile.
Hope this helps,

A couple of months down the line, he received a letter from Orange demanding payment for the months he had 'missed'. He rang immediately to tell them that he had cancelled the contract but was told that he still had to pay the two months 'outstanding' debt. He was really unhappy about this, as was I, but paid the money anyway.
So to clarify, you were both under the impression that cancelling his contract would write off 2 months debt scott free?0 -
No it seems to be that after telling orange he wanted to cancel his contract they continued to charge him anyway.
Looks like a big Orange blunder providing that your son was at the end of his contract with no outstanding bills etc..
And to give you some hope big companies DO remove the default all together if it was their fault. I speak from experience with a major bank.0 -
Hi all, I have a very similar scenario - I had an argument about a bill back in 2005 with Orange, the bill was high and I tried to come to an agreement to pay (lost job, 6 months pregnant and DH in Afghan).
However as the bill was being paid bit by bit Orange decided to stop my outbound calls but continue to charge me the £40 a month line rental.
At this point I telephoned and explained I would be better off with a pay as you go and wanted to stop the contract because paying in essence £40 a month interest on a balance of £160 was extortionate.
Eventually when I did manage to clear the balance in September 2006 a default appeared on my account - 11 months after the first problem AND 6 months after I actually had a contract with Orange because they passed it on to their debt collection team iirc Any advice would be appreciated.0
