mildew on wedding dress

My DD moved weekend before last and was really upset to find that there had been a leak under their bathroom which inturn had gone through to their bedroom, it wasn't something they had known about as was only a slow leak. She had her weddinng dress stored under her bed in a box and regretfully it now has a big damp stain and mould stains on it.
Obviously she was very upset, she told her OH to dump it, me and him conferrred and I now have the dress up here with me.
My first thought was to take it to dry cleaners but upon reading label it states, do not wash, do not dry clean, spot clean only. Any suggestions will be gratefully received x

I spotted some mildew on my bathroom curtains, where wet toothbrushes lent against them:o, I used this and it worked brilliantly. (Bought in Tesco).
Not sure about taking the risk with a wedding dress though although it sounds like DD is convinced it's for the bin anyway so maybe worth a go?0 -
What is the material, is it beaded, and where is the stain?0

According to Kim and Aggie, for mildew on white synthetics use hygrogen peroxide.Soak in 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 9 parts water.Rinse and wash.
For white cotton and linen use household chlorine bleach.Soak in diluted bleach then rinse thoroughly and wash.
For dried mildew use salt or lemon juice.Rub with damp salt or lemon juice and leave in the sun for at least 12 hours.

thanks for your replies
themull1 - it is beaded but the stain is above the beading, a few of the beads are discoloured but I think I can deal with them, the stain is hip level down to the beading. The label states fabric 100% polyester, netting 100% nylon. This is the dress, the stain is about where she is holding her flowers.whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine
