no its not, any bread/cakes they want to get rid off they put it on the side, its all down to waste, they may get charged more for sending x amount of loaves of bread back

Got you - thanks for explaining. I'll keep an eye out for those then, and thanks to everyone who replied to me, I appreciate your comments.0 -

The good thing I've found about Lidl's reduced items are that they usually have a decent amount of time before the Use By dates. I've had stuff with a week left on it before!0

thats possibly to be sure the reduced food sells and doesnt get wasted which is a good idea0 -
Hi all
Just wanted to let you know how I got on today doing my weekly shop in Lidl for the first time. I didn't see any reduced - or even free items - but when I compared my shopping list like for like with Asda (where I usually shop) I saved £3.24 by shopping at Lidl. As I live by myself it wasn't a massive shop (14 items) but I was really impressed with the saving and am trying their own branded products for the first time too.
Thanks for all your help everyone.

My local asda has done this at 4:00pm on a sunday as well.
Any one leaving could have up two items free.
Cheaper than binning and keeps the customer happy.0 -
In my Lidl they often have 30% reduced on a few days before it goes out of date.
Quite often its on top of offer products as well.
Often seen - special down 40% in price. Then a 30% reduced label on top. Thus 70% off.0 -

Sorry to quibble, but not quite right - say something was £1: 40% off would make it 60p. Then 30% off that price = 42p; that's what you'd pay at the till. 70% off the original £1 would be 30p.0
