Prawn crackers

I apologise in advance because this isn't a very os question, but I am hoping someone may know. My dd has become a vegetarian. At the weekend she got a chinese takeaway. Shge didn't know if she can have prawn crackers. Is the 'prawn' just flavouring?

I was under the impression that they do have prawn in them, not just flavouring (but i could be wrong!!!)

I think it depends where they are from but the last time I bought prawn crackers from a supermarket I am 'almost' certain that they had actual prawn in it. Not much but I expect too much if you are vegetarian!

It may vary from takeaway to takeaway.

    Why not ask?

My Uncle has a seafood allergy (life-threatening) and he never ever so much as touches prawn crackers. So I would say that its a no-no for veggies too,.

  • if they are authentic prawn crackers, which they should be from a takeaway, then they would have prawn in them.
the cheap supermarket ones probably just have a prawn flavouring in them.

The ones in my local supermarket and local take away both have prawns in them.

    :(
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

Thank you everyone. What a shame they can't make a vegetarian version. Dd loves prawn cocktail crisps, which are suitable for vegetarians.
