found a job on jobseekers - need advice

Hi,
I need some advice.
I've recently had my first jobseeker interview - 21/3 and on the same day i received a conditional offer to be a census collector(i applied back in Jan). Not sure what i should have next - i know i probably should have found out the next day. I have just left it as i have to sign on for the 1st time tomorrow. I assumed that i would be still be entitled to some money until i start my job (6/4). Should i have been still looking for a job even though i got one straightaway?. I have been searching the internet and have recorded it for the jobcentre to see but to be honest i haven't contacted any employers when i was suppose to contact 2 a week. Will this affect my money? what should i say to the jobcentre about my new job?
Any help would be great.
thanks.

When the job centre gave you 2 jobs to contact the other week you are meant to do that. It is all part of your agreement that your signed when you first went to the job centre to sign all the documents.
It possibly will affect your money as you have not kept to the agreement0 -
I did contact the 2 jobs they gave me in the interview and then later on that day i found out about the census job. I did ring a agency who told me to email them my CV, which i did and i have checked the internet everyday. This week i have searched the internet and i have found a job i could apply for which i have to collect the application form from them but can't get to them until tomorrow after i sign on - live out of town and husband has car for work and i have an early appointment at the jobcentre. I have just call Tesco's about vacancies and got a recorded message saying i had to call in store which again i will do tomorrow. I hope this enough.0

Even though you have a job offer, to claim jobseekers you have to be actively looking for work. For example - I finished a job and had a new job to start a month later and was able to claim jobseekers as I was still seeking temporary work in the time between the two jobs. If I hadn't been looking for work in between those times then my claim would have been stopped.
Keep looking for jobs until your census job start date and write it all down in your job diary. If you've contacted the jobs the jobcentre gave you then that's fine as they can check that you have done this.Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190
Comp Wins 2014: None yet
