Skipton long term fix

Options
Hi there

Just looking at remortgaging (probably up to 150k from 120 for home improvements etec). Am ending a fixed deal with Portman and came across a 7 year 4.99 fixed rate with the Skipton. It looks good in theory - when would you have lost out with such a deal any time in the last 15 years? Any thoughts out there? Just a little concerned at such a long fix (no tie in beyond end of run)

Thanks to anyone for their thoughts.

  • Hi,
Unfortunatly the 7 year 4.99% is not available any more (where have you seen it?). They withdrew it last week. There is a 5.14% at £799 or a £5.24% for £499 though...
  • ah-ha. I was assured by the branch yesterday that it was available - and there's still an advert in the window! Higher rate not so good - could go for a 2 year elsewhere at 4.99 or lower
  • Best check the window on Monday... Can you guess where i work?
  • Well, something tells me you might have greater knowledge than the woman I booked the appointment to see the mortgage adviser with!

Thanks for the steer - will look at the other deals
