there is literally hundreds of things you could buy
a die cutting machine plus dies and embossing folders
    inks
    promarkers
    stamps
    glittermist
    ribbons
    buttons
    glitter
    other embellishments
    card
    paper packs

i am in a similar situation to you and i could literally spend hundreds of pounds, i have just been to the craft show at olympia and i am going to the one at alexander palace on the 10th
if you can go to one of these events it would give you loads of ideas and you can see all the different techniques and see what you want first.

i want it all unfortunatley my budget says otherwise:(

as artydoll said the girls on he cardmaking thread will help you spend your money. They find all the great bargains.

Basic kit includes steel ruler and a scalpel for cutting straight lines , a large craft mat, lots of double sided tape , good quality card or blanks ,i have a glue gun had it 2 years never used it. use dst or silicone glue for most things and foam pads.

you really dont need too much when you start off just in case you find you dont get on with it or dont like it, places to look if you can are the works and wilkos they often have little sets of cardmaking and scrapbooking kits plus the bits and bobs you may need to start off. but for cards i would recommened not using a glue gun, silicone glue, foam squares or a normal glue stick should suffice
