Is it better then being on the dole?
  • I'm sorry you feel that way, I can sympathise. I'm currently in a temp job that pays pennies... the work is OK (I'm too experienced/qualified... could do the job with my eyes closed) but everyone in the office is really lovely (thankfully!). I should be grateful I have a job, it took between July and January to find longer term work and the role came at the point where things were on the brink of getting critical for me.

I shouldn't sould so ungrateful but I guess I want a job that is more stimulating, offers career progression and enables me to live a reasonable standard of living.

Accept the role but continue to look for something else... that's what I'm doing.

Take the job, work with it for six months for the experience and if you decide you hate it you can start to look for a new one. It's much easier to get a new job when you are already employed and you may find that your misgivings with this job melt away once you've been there awhile.

  • I'd never go for a job that i wouldn't be happy in. If you're picky like me, i wouldn't bother going for it.
  • Congratulations - why not look on this as a short term solution to your employment needs while you look around for your ideal job. It's better than huge gaps on your CV

I know how you feel OP. The last job I was in I was offered the job on the spot after the interview and I went and sat outside for 5 mins and felt really sad. When I got out of the building, my face fell and stared at the ground for ages. I don't know what it was but it obviously wasn't right for me as I left 7 months later. Ok company, really crappy people. For some reason the interviewer seemed really surprised that I chose not to accept her offer on the spot, but chose to take a few days to think about it. People think that you go to interviews because you actually want the job ahahaha!

Maybe it was just the sad fact that I had to accept a job that I didn't want just to pay the bills linked to the inevitability that I would be unhappy until I found something else, which in the "current job market" was a very daunting prospect back then.

Whatever you chose to do OP, good luck.
