Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. As a result, we have taken the decision to keep this board permanently closed, but it remains viewable for users who may find some useful information in it. Thank you for your understanding.

If you can ovecome your dislike of its core message, you will find HPC to be one of the best forums for economic news and analysis.
http://www.greenenergyinvestors.com/ is another good site."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

p.s. NOT HPC!
If you find one, can I follow?:A

What is HPC's core message and why do you think I have a dislike of it?
I don't post on HPC. But you do get clear explanations and real debate over there. Many will claim otherwise, but they have mostly been banned from the site, which is an issue.
But have a look, and have a look at some of the threads. Even the disagreements are polite, and no one appears to be attached to various other peoples legs constantly humping.
Indeed, the humping gets pulled over here, when we are given several threads about what a poster on another forum is saying and how they are so so wrong.0 -

p.s. thanks for the link - just looking at it now.
Well, the clue is in its name
As for the link I posted, I think you will probably find THIS sub-forum of real interest."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

HPC.co.uk is for people with the economic Armageddon mind set. very few credible posters over there.0 -
This is the best site if you want to 'debate house prices and the economy'.
I've posted on fool sometime ago but there's still the bull and bear thing going on. They do have a boards just for bulls and one for bears but obviously gets a bit boring.
I used to post on a satellite TV site about receivers and signal encryption and so on. If you think it's bad here it was worse there - people really would have come to blows about which satellite receiver was best.0 -
Recommend Citywire and Trustnet websites.0

When you said you last bought in 2007 maybe?0 -
I like fool.co.uk. The house price forum has kinda died a death as prices stagnated and it lost its best poster.
The Paulypilot's Pub boards are very good:
Economy: http://boards.fool.co.uk/paulypilots-pub-macro-topics-51686.aspx?mid=12217819
Other stuff: http://boards.fool.co.uk/paulypilots-pub-other-stuff-51700.aspx?mid=12168070

Fool is definitely an investments based website and the posts tend to reflect this slant. For example, discussions of the economy will tend to shift towards how you can make money from it. Even the Football Fools board can start dissecting the balance sheet of various football clubs!
When it comes to looking at the investment boards, just be careful of 'group-think'.
On this (and ADFN which I tend not to use as I think it has more 'share rampers'*) you often see a tendency towards group-think, where everyone starts to see things in the same light. You particularly see this on share boards (there are forums for each individual share) where all the posters have a position in a small company and will keep talking up the positive news as the share price drops to zero, shouting away any dissenters in the meantime.

Yup the same is true of the MSE Investment & Savings board...0
