Hi i dont know if anyone will be able to help but i am currently on job seekers and i have been given a definite job offer but i am unable to start straight away as i need to wait for crb check and ofsted checks. Does anyone know if i still need to keep applying for other jobs as i have paid money out to get the checks done so i am able to start this job.
Thanks Emma

Congratulations on the job offer

yes you still need to keep applying for other jobs, I know it seems a bit of a waste of everyone's time but it's just in case something happens and your job offer falls through (which I'm sure it won't)0 -
I may be wrong but the way i see it is yes apply for others since you dont know what the answer(just an example) will be once the checks are done(if you know they are clean so to speak then you dont have anything to worry about), the firm could go under for example. Wait until you have a firm offer and start date then close the job seekers claim,0

Congratulations on your job offer Emma.
You can continue to sign up to the start of your job. You can potentially sign off up to a week beforehand if you have no further signing days and you will get JSA up the day before you start work.
In order to meet conditionality of receiving JSA you must actively seek and apply for jobs until you sign off. Maybe look at temp jobs? Bear in mind possible entitlements to Job Grant and Housing / Council Tax Benefit run-ons. Check with your Job Centre.
As the other posts rightly say, it is always a good idea to keep looking in case your job offer falls through. CRB checks can take a while also. You may even get a better offer! If you have a letter from the employer show it to the Job Centre - that will help.
If you want to, you can also sign off on the day you start work or just after but don't leave it too long or your claim will be closed for failing to sign.
Good luck.0
