Getting money back

Hi

This is my first post on these forums, so apologies if this is the wrong place to put this, I was having trouble working out where it best fits.

I've decided to try and cash in on all those things that I usually don't bother to, ie refunds, travel expenses, money back etc and see how much I'm entitled to that I usually don't try and get back.

With the money I'm going to take my partner to do something we wouldn't usually do, for our anniversary. He's always quite thrifty and thinks I usually spend too much, so I think he'd like that we were getting a meal/trip out of money we wouldn't normally have.

So far I've identified a number of places I might be entitled to money back, such as:

  • £7.30 Travel card for a meeting I never claimed back
  • Oyster card took £5 off me for no reason
  •
A lesson I paid for was cancelled due to a strike (this one class worth about £7.90)
  •
£3 refund offered on a DVD I bought on Amazon if I wrote a review

  • A number of books and DVDs I'll never read/use that are just lying around that I could sell on Amazon
  •
The insurance on a loan I think I was miss-sold, after reading the page on this on this site (though this might take longer and I might need my partners advice doing this)

It doesn't add up to much, but I think I may be able to get a nice meal somewhere if I come up with a few more ideas.

Does anybody have any other advice on things I could do?

I'm not looking really to get money I'm not entitled to, or buy things I wouldn't normally buy, I'm just interested in how much money I would normally let slip through my fingers. I also looked at the Tesco and Asda price checks but my local Tesco isn't included in this.

I would appreciate and advice/comments etc

Thanks

Karen
