By the time I'm 65 years old I will be 5 years short of my NIC.
As of now I have paid 39 years NIC.
I know that now you only require 30 years NIC to qualify for the basic state pension but is it worth my while paying the 5 years I'm due.
If I don't get any extra pension because I've paid 39 years what happens to the 9 years money I've paid?
I hope this makes since to some one.

I wouldn't pay the extra five years. Once you have 30 years' contributions banked you qualify for the full state pension; you don't get any more pension for any extra years.
If you do pay more than 30 years then hopefully HM Government will do something useful with it.

You don't have any option if you are in work you have to pay.
National insurance contributions go to NHS etc etc, not just pensions and I don't think you really want to opt out of that
;) I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
