Gift Lists?

After queries from several relatives wanting us to have a wedding gift list we had planned to have one with John Lewis but just looked at it this evening and they say not to set it up until 10 weeks beforehand. We had planned to send our invites out about 4 months before the date due to it being in the summer so we wouldnt be able to include the gift list info in with them. How is anyone getting around this?

I was just about to post about these types of list (I still will...)

My fiance and I are getting married in 2 1/2 weeks and did our list through Debenhams. Since then things have been discontinued and unless they have already been bought they have to be replaced. It's a huge pain in the rear, but it's the only reason they tell you to wait. if you dont mind having to occasionally change something that may have been discontinued if it hasnt been ordered yet, then get it done now...

I remember i was best man last year for my mate, and they went with John Lewis, and every time they went to scan, they got free coffee etc? but they didnt realise at first and spent 5 hours wandering round the store on the first day rather then doing it over a few weeks!

My brother sent out his invitations in February for a July wedding - they included the gift list (John Lewis) reference number, but have said on the invite that the list won't be activated until 6 weeks before the wedding. So I guess you can perhaps register with the store now, and just release the list to your guests closer to the day. Perhaps this could work for you too?

This is what we have done. We set up the gift list in December and they gave us the number etc to put on the invitation then in the middle of February we went and spent an afternoon zapping lovely thing and it went live a couple of weeks ago. We were told 10 weeks before the wedding to do our zapping and also told not to zap sale items because they might be gone by the time the list went live.

That sounds brilliant, thank you. We shall set it up and get our reference number and say it will be activated nearer the time.
    Problem solved, thanks everyone!
