Stamp duty holiday extension for FTB's in March 2012?

Dear Money Savers,
My girlfriend and I are planning to buy our first property in early 2012 with the stamp duty holiday period for first time buyers (scheduled to end in March 2012) largely influencing our timely decision.
Since the latest budget announcement, I read the government will be reviewing this date and are set to announce their decision in autumn 2011.
Therefore I would like to hear from anyone who has an opinion, gut instinct or ideally industry/market based experience - Will the government extend the stamp duty ‘holiday period’ for first time buyers or should I be prepared to write our ‘good friend’ Mr Osborne a very reluctant cheque?
Any thoughts, opinions or advice much appreciated.
Many thanks!

Simple.........no-one knows! Market conditions will dictate whether more stimulus is needed to the housing market. Georgey boy needs all the cash he can get so he wants to lose the incentive.
Person opinion is that it will remain. Its a small token gesture to show they are apparently listening and only amounts to a small amount of total stamp duty income esp in light of the recent increase0 -

I would consider buying the right property at the right price to be the most important factor. Extension of the stamp duty holiday is secondary.0
