Money making hobbies

Does anyone here have a hobby that they use to bring in extra cash? Ive tried utilising my 'basic' graphic design knowledge to design business cards and personal stationery and no one has been interested.

What does everyone else make/do to bring in those few pennies?

  • Painting, web design / maintenance, photography. Sounds like I must be earning a ton, but I'll take on odd-jobs once in a blue moon so I'm really not earning a lot. Lol. My (amateur) painting is far too sporadic and low priced to earn a proper living from it.

In my old work we were able to compete for tax free incentives - capital bonds - and I won quite a bit from that - about £500 in total.

When I was a teen used to babysit and petsit - all the typical teen jobs.

Web design I did as a teen for several different companies. And I do pay my taxes on it. :P

And uh... I certainly don't push anyone to buy handmade cards, paintings, or my web skills... I've been asked by various people and it just followed through reputation.

If it's important to you, set yourself up as freelance officially - then people might not perceive you as amateur.

I know someone who bred spiders. Mexican Red Knees to be specific.

In the wild they have 600-1000 babies at a time as survival rates so low. In captivity he had a 95% survival rate and since CITES stopped imports out of Mexico the price has shot and you can pay anything up to £100 for a fully grown adult.

They can live up to 20 years and take 5 years to hit adulthood so not a quick earner but 1000 spiders at £100 each - you do the maths.

Yeah right!. Like I'm ever going to pay to have a spider in the house, Mexican or otherwise. Weird!!
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
