Letter of Recommendation help

Afternoon,

I have been asked to write a Letter of Recommendation sort of thing, for a colleauge who is about to be made redundant, the company has no problem in giving her a glowing reference when asked for, but my MD has asked me to do this as the person who worked closest with her and as the bloke who does our HR can be a bit er... basic with with references. ie. "yes they worked here from then to now".

Thing is... I dont know where to start, whenever I have given references before it has been on over the phone or by filling in a questionaire.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks
YDSM
I wish I would take my own advice!
