New Job tax code problem

Hi guys I just recieved my first pay slip of my new job and the tax code ive got is BR. I have given them my p45. how do i change the code and reclaim the overpaid tax? the hmrc website is useless and i was on hold for 30 mins on the phone :mad:

If the Code on the P45 was other than BR - ask your employer why they haven't implemented it? HMRC won't know.
If you're weekly paid .... your employer has one last chance at it before the tax year ends. Otherwise you need to get an early P60 and send that off to HMRC (copy it first) with a claim. Copying the P45 into that won't go amiss.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
