Cinema/Eating near Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle

My friend and I are taking 3 teenage girls to a show at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle this Sunday (from Scotland). Can anyone tell me if there is a cinema nearby where we can pass a few hours while the girls are at the concert? Also any recommendations for eating out Sunday night?
