Selected Retirement Age - does it matter?

My various pensions (and those of my wife) have a variety of retirement ages. As they are all money purchase private pensions, does this age actually matter?
I can only think of two reasons -
1) Some pensions automatically change asset balance as you approach retirement age, but with annuities on the wane, I'd only be looking to do this for my PCLS, so just 25% of the funds.
2) It lets the pension company know when to write to you to try and flog you their own crappy annuity.
Did I miss anything?
Thanks

I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

Only relevance I've come across is they sometimes have early redemption penalties on any WP element.
Other than that, being a bit cynical, I'd suggest your point 2 was apposite0 -
In addition to what old slapper said and the bits you have covered....
It can also be important with certain providers with guaranteed annuity rates or GMP.
For most, it is only used to provide an illustration of benefits. It should also be noted that the rate on the illustration of benefits may not actually be their annuity rate. Very often you see a lower rate being applied to it than you can actually get, even with that provider.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
