The reason why I left most of the other expenses blank is because I pay them as he is living with me at the moment. He receives JSA and I would like to pay the credit card debt somehow. Could anyone advise me on how much should I offer to pay on each of the credit cards? I realise there isn't much left after he pays his other expenses but I am hoping if PPI will pay some of these cards that I could manage the others from the money he has left. Alternatively I could maybe stretch an extra £50 of my own money towards this. We keep our finances separate that's why I didn't include mine, didn't think they would be relevant. Any advice would be very much appreciated0 -
Could anyone let me know where do I find template letters to send to creditors?
Also, if anyone has any suggestions of how much I should offer each of them, I would be very grateful.0 -
Yes I am trying to claim the PPI so that they would cover payments whilst he is unemployed. He has not dealt with any of it since he lost his job, he has fallen in a state of depression and was unable to. I am trying to deal with it without involving him as his emotional state is very frail and I'm afraid it will just do him worse.
I have got a pile of unopened letters to deal with and really don't know where to start. I just hope I can do something about it. Thank you for your support

So he phoned Natwest and they informed him that he has got an Advantage Blue account which they upgraded from his original Current Account but there is no such notice of this in the correspondence. They said the Advantage Blue account pack was sent in the post but my partner does not recall receiving that. The person he was speaking to on the phone told him that the account has a series of benefits including a Railcard and Mobile Phone Insurance (now i googled this railcard and it appears it only applies to people between the ages of 18-24 whereas my partner is older than that!) He hasn't benefited at all from these 'Advantages' and so he asked Natwest if they could change his account back to the initial one he opened which was free of charge. The advisor on the phone told him that he needs to go in branch and do this as it cannot be done over the phone, at the same time trying to persuade him to keep the account and that it might and i quote 'come in handy if you happen to lose your mobile phone'.
Google "mobile phone insurance" and you'll find deals a lot less than £103.40 per year. Now my question is, is there any chance he could get those money back that they charged him for this account if we can prove that he hasn't consented to it? I know it is his fault for not checking his bank statements earlier but I really do wish to solve this matter now. Should we ask Natwest to produce proof that my partner consented to being upgraded to this account?
Yes, of course you should. RBS tried the same sort of stunt with my late father when, about a decade ago, they subscribed him to their Royalties Gold account without even so much as "by your leave" - they just did it, over Christmas, and seemed to hope he'd not notice!
But he did notice and he demanded his money back, as few or none of the purported "benefits" were any use to him. He got his refund, too, as they had subscribed him without his knowledge; if I recall correctly, when they seemed reluctant to rescind the subscription, their minds seemed to change when he asked whom he should contact at the area office.0 -

Best source of template letters is the national debtline website. Given the level of his debts and the fact he is on benefits I would suggest you just offer token payments to each creditor. So you could do just £1 each a month, or could go for say £5 each a month.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
