Home made air fresher

Womder if this might be useful to someone? This afternoon we ran out of air freshner. I found an old pump spray and filled it with water and then added about 12 drops of Jasmine essential oil. It smells fab - and no nasty chemicals either.:j Will try lavender or vanilla next time. The oil bottle cost 49p - so this costs next to nowt.

Hope this helps someone.

Careful where you spray it, my friend uses similar oils and marked her suite badly with it, would suggest avoiding any fabrics.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Yep It helps me! :T

But I've had an inkling of an idea for a while but never taken it the whole way... I've seen these holders that you can hook over radiators to put essential oils in instead of using incense burners, but they always look like something that your granny would use!! So do you fabulous people have any ideas of what I can use instead??

Rub the oil on the back of the radiator instead :) or even fabric conditioner, doesn't stain clothes you put on them if you use them for drying and not adding too much extra humidity.

Ah forgot to mention I put it on with rubber gloves on, if you use a cloth you loose it into the cloth (waste really) and never really get the smell out if using oil, so I dab it onto the gloves (I use disposable plastic ones) and then onto the radiator. Works for me. My son decided he liked eating pot pourri and I didn't like having it lying around so had to do something else.

Yep I had to do something else instead of using incense burners... tea lights don't really mix to well with 2 toddlers!!

PS Where is best/cheapest place to buy essential oils?

I get mine from the local market, I prefer paying a little extra for pure essential oils rather than the synthetic ones, don't know where else does them when it comes to shops, health food stores tend to be expensive, I have only ever bought from there and a few off eBay I couldn't get locally.

Careful near paintwork too as essential oils can mark paint etc aswell, as long as you're careful it's fine.

These cold and wet days I've been drying a few garments over the radiators. I sprinkle a few drops of whatever essential oil I have around onto the damp clothes...and the smell is fantastic! It doesn't linger on the clothes (so I don't smell of lavendar...I am not a granny!!)
