Duvet Day!

I remember hearing something on the news a few yrs ago ref "duvet day"

I believe it was to reduce the amount of sick days people had at work

but you know when you wake up in the morning and just cant be bothered to go to work, and just want to snuggle up under the duvet - Please quote me if Im wrong, but is it now law that we can ring in work and say Im having a duvet day - Im not coming in ?

If so - how many days can we have ? and I guess they are un-paid?

Please do correct me and advise me, not sure if its official now or something which was just talk...

Many thanks

I`d like a duvet day everyday!

Never heard of it before, cant see my boss letting me have time off so I can snuggle up with me duvet. You have to be at deaths door before you can have time off and then you get the area manager called in to give you the third degree!

It's not law, or anything like it, but some companies are offering duvet days or 'mental health' days, as part of a leave package. You have a couple of days a year that you can take off with no notice, rather than throwing a sickie. It is usually only in very competitive (and stressful) jobs. The idea is that when people throw a sickie they often end up taking 2 or 3 days off so it looks less suspicious, so lettitng them have an occasional day when they need it makes them more productive over all.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.
  • f you work in the DVLA in Swansea then you are allowed Duvet days, not sure how many though...
