bobsa1 wrote:Great idea! My dd had a little friend who used to love coming round and wearing the fairy dress up clothes and waving a wand about. That nine year old boy would now be horrified if we mentioned it but at the time he loved dressing up in pretty clothes (his army sargent father was also fine with it). Nobody would be bothered if a little girl liked Thomas the Tank. Ignore anyone who says anything and let your little one cook up a storm!
exactly children are children how can they learn about the world without trying everything out... make sure you give him a pad and pen for the ordersi am first in the queue

my 2 sons both loved their buggys with teddies and play kitchens
who cares if these toys are seen as "girly" by some people ? thats their problem0 -
My youngest son played with kitchen stuff, 'helped' with his toy rolling pin etc & this year he doing GCSE food tech (that cooking at school for those lucky enough not to have a kid doing GCSEs). I get a day off cooking on Tuesday when comes home from school with Goan Fish Curry etc. I am still hopeful he might be a new Jamie Oliver.....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life0

when my sister was little my dad used to childmind for my cousin whose only 9 days younger, my sister had dolls and a kitchen and a laundry set and my cousin had cars, police set, play tools. and theyd always swap toys. i think that its good as it teaches kids not to stick to male and female stereotypes and stops them growing up with a preconcieved idea of their role in life:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0

both my boys have enjoyed playing with their older sisters 'girlie' toys including barbies and kitchen.
my 7yr old still plays with the kitchen and pretend food more than anything else!0 -
Definitely not.......we brought my boys a fisher price kitchen when they were younger (19 years ago) and it was frowned upon then by a few people.
I think my sons actually played with the kitchen more than my daughters ever did.
Dont worry about it.......he'll love it!!0 -
My 15 year old daughter is reading this thread with me and she says that unfortunately there are far greater things to worry about in this world like poverty and global warming. Dont listen to what anyone might say and do what you think is right, there are enough people out there that stereotype children.
Let's hope more of her agegroup feel like that .....0 -
My teenage son loved all the kitchen stuff and girly toys, dressing up etc as did his friends. He is now a rugby playing motorbike fanatic. You are obviously a lovely sensible mum, sensitive to what your son enjoys right now, unlike the folk who make such silly comments.
My daughter is also 15yrs old Lushkat and would echo those sentiments, so maybe there is hope.0 -
Jopsey, you are giving your son something you know he will love playing with. Doesn't matter what other people think. We can't make our daughters play with 'girlie' toys and our sons play with 'action' toys. I have a son and daughter, son had a kitchen when he was a toddler and a 'shop' and my daughter loved playing with her brothers cars and He Man figures. They are both 'normal' adults (whatever that is!
). You will get as much pleasure out of seeing him happy with what Santa brings him as he will get playing with it. Merry Christmas :santa2:

We bought our son one when he was 3 he loved it and cooked many a feast on it! He is nearly 8 now and its still going strong, I popped it in the outside shed and its thier own little house/den/castle etc, so I would not worry. And the worch bench that was bought for his second christmas is still in there too so its a investment.:A :j0
