I am trying to sort out my credit file. Never to needed to apply for credit for last 4 years and recently checked credit file to see a default notice for a catalogue that i had at my old address. I am disputing this as the default occurred after i had left the property. If i pay the default in full can i get this removed from my credit file?
Any help would be appreciated. I am prepared to pay this to clear my credit file, but if the default won't be removed i will continue to contest and dispute this. Difficulty i am having the debt was sold to a third party and i am having to go backwards and forwards between the original company and the third party and neither are being very helpful. They are unable to provide me with a copy of the credit agreement or a breakdown/statement of the account to show the date of last order items.
PLEASE HELP!!!

It may be possible to negotiate removal of the default in exchange for settlement of the debt. However, most companies are reluctant or just refuse to do this.
Does no harm to try though...
I'm not 100% clear on what grounds you are disputing the default?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

could look at it as you failed to update your address, none starter but better satisfied than not0

Is the default for an account you have? If so, you'll have a hard time getting any DCA to remove it.0

The default was registered in November 2007 we had left the address in May 2007 and was aware that the account was fully paid. We have had other problems with catalogues in my partners name being taken out since we left the property.0 -
So presumably you are saying that goods were ordered to someone at your previous address without your knowledge? Presumably as a result of account details still being sent there?
Also, as you believed the account had nothing owing on it, you did not change your address with the catalogue?
Or did the catalogue ignore any request to change your address?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
