Employer not passing on tax free allowance increase

Thanks for posting kiki.
When I say salary I actually mean NET pay. I understand that my gross pay won't change. I just used the wrong terminology. Sorry for the confusion.
No worries - it's easy to misread posts on a forum, I do it all the time - as you can see!I will speak to HMRC tomorrow and see what they say.
Here's some advice - call FIRST THING and be prepared to wait ten minutes. Don't call at lunch unless you're prepared to wait an hour.

As we haven't reached April yet, I'm surprised they've worked out what nett amounts they will be paying in April if its monthly pay.
If the pay day is on or before 5 April then it will be on this year's tax allowance not that for 2011-12.0 -
Likely hood is that they have already processed Marchs monthly pay and if it is the same pay each month it would be hard to change the process date to see what Aprils would be.0

Don't forget NI is increasing by 1% so the increase in personal allowance will be slightly negated0

Apparently their records show they have issued the 647 tax code to my employer but payslips showing wrong one. So looks like I've been paying too much tax.
Only problem is I have to send p60's for those years and I don't have them. Have been asking employer constantly for last 6mths for these p60's anyway (due to missing NI)

I agree that it seems that the employer has absolutely no idea how to process payroll.
I cannot see why OP would have the same tax code for several years (if this really is the case). Even if he had any special changes to basic tax code, the tax code would still change every year and also OP would get notice of it from HMRC. So yes, this just seems like the employer has no idea what they are doing and are not even using any software for their payroll (as most would at least automatically get rid off the M1 on beginning of a new tax year).
However if you overpaid tax OP (which is what it seems) HMRC will send you your money back. You will need your P60s (which I hope your employer knows how to do!!) and send it to HMRC. They will tell you what they need when you call them.0 -

Employer MUST provide P60 by 31st May of each year. If you never got one it is illegal!!
HMRC will accept in such a cases copies of payslips, if you have them for the full year (ie April to March).0 -

When asked to send P60's I have in the past sent my March payslip instead (when I couldn't find or access my P60). This will help them investigate.0 -

Well, at least you know the problem now. Speak to payroll in your company now you know the issue, and demand your legal right to your P60s! You'll get your money back, at least - which is a nice windfall!
I take back what I said earlier about it being HMRC...clearly they have done the right thing. But rather than your employer 'witholding' anything, it sounds like they're just incompetent. *sigh*
I hope you get it sorted.
